As part of the Northeast/New England RPM Meet in Collinsville, CT there are a number of tours available to participants. This year I went to Palmer, MA for the Mass Central Railroad’s open house. Lighting was a little tough since we was there at high noon on a gorgeous June 1st, but I did my best to get a few shots of the equipment and facility
- CSX ES44DC #5366 leads an eastbound past The Steaming Tender restaurant in Palmer, MA
- An overview of the yard. Unfortunately I neglected to get any shots of the piggy packer.
- A broadside shot of 1751 showing off it’s B&M inspired paint scheme.
- Rear 3/4 of 1751. These units are pretty sharp looking and have been well restored.
- The tank car unloading facility.
- Wheel chocked.
- GP9 1729 and GP38-2 1751 parked nose to nose.
- The cab of 1729. We were told that this unit is fully operational and runs really well, but needs some cosmetic work.
- 1750 in profile.
- Engineers side of 1750 shot from the deck just in front of the nose.
- We also got to climb into 1750 and take a look at the cab interior. This is the conductors side of the cab, looking out the front door.
- Looking out the back of the cab from the conductors side.
- The front of the cab.
- A better view of the control stand.
- The front office.
- The back wall of the cab.
Thanks to everyone at Mass Central who made this happen, it was a fun couple of hours.
